I need your help.  Ok here’s the deal.  Today is Wed, Feb 25.  Between now and March 1, I am competing to see if I can get the most Beachbody membership sign ups.  These can be free memberships or paid club memberships.  It honestly doesn’t matter to me which way you sign up.  The important thing is that you sign up through my Beachbody website before Midnight Sunday March 1.  So sign up – tell your friends – have them tell their friends etc…

Your Incentive to Help Me:

Since I am asking you for a favor to help me with this contest I am going to have a contest that you can compete in and have a chance to win.  My reasoning for the contest is two-fold:

  1. Of course, I want as many signups as possible so I can win my contest.
  2. Since your contest (rules are to follow) starts at the beginning of March, I am hoping to not only give you incentive to signup for me but to also actually get yourself to workout.  Did I mention that summer is just a hop skip and jump away?

Your Contest Rules

Free Members: Log in as many workouts as you can from March 2 through Midnight March 31.  Workouts can be Beachbody workouts, but they don’t have to be.  You can log in walks, weight lifting, running, spin class – you name it – if it is a workout you can log it in.  The rule is for a workout to qualify – you must log it real time – what I mean by that is you log in – go do your workout and log out – you will see a red x on your workout calendar.  If you do a workout and then go log it in later you will get a Blue X.  Blue X’s don’t count.  Also you may workout as many times as you want in a day but only one will count.  The 3 free members with the most workouts will win a prize.

Paid Club Members: Same rules as above:  you must log your workout in real time – Red X’s, the twist for paid club members is that I am giving prizes to everyone who logs in 3 or more workouts a week.  Every single one of you!  I don’t care if I have 500 paid club members that workout 3 or more times a week – every single one will get a prize after the contest ends.

342_romance_lg_tbbNamed for Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, aphrodisiacs have been the stuff of legend and song throughout history. Lovers looking for a leg up in the libido department have gone to their shamans, medicine men, and herbalists for centuries, searching for the magic ingredient that will kick their mojo into high gear. And today the search has gone to the Internet. Anyone with a lackluster spam filter has probably scanned the hundreds of emails that arrive every day, advertising powdered rhinoceros horn or some unpronounceable chemical that promises to goose your or your partner’s desires. The efficacy of these miracle products is extremely dubious (and, in the case of the exotic animal parts, illegal), but there are plenty of products that you can find right in your grocery store or farmers’ market that can potentially increase the heat between the sheets. Here are some common foods and why they might be able to put a little extra oomph into that special evening.

  1. Oysters. These are perhaps the classic aphrodisiacs of all time.  Studies have shown that oysters and their shellfish brethren, including clams, scallops, and mussels, all contain chemical compounds that may aid the release of testosterone, estrogen, and other sex hormones in both men and women. Oysters are also full of zinc, a deficiency of which can cause impotence in men, another reason they can be man’s best friend in the bedroom. And then of course there’s the conventional wisdom that if you’ll eat an oyster, you’ll eat anything.
  2. Chocolate. What’s more associated with Valentine’s Day than chocolate? The ancient Aztecs considered chocolate to be an aphrodisiac for both men and women, and when the Europeans got wind of its inhibition-lowering properties, it wasn’t long before the candy treat became a must-have when pitching woo. Casanova and famed Louis XV courtesan Madame du Barry were reported to be great believers in the powers of chocolate, and there may have been something to it. Chocolate contains the chemicals phenylethylamine and serotonin, which are also naturally occurring chemicals in the brain, usually released when we are happy or in love. Its chemicals can literally cause your heart to beat a little faster. Add to that a boost of caffeine and sugar, and it can be a pretty good pick-me-up with a small side of euphoria.
  3. Avocados. The Aztecs referred to the avocado tree as Ahuacuatl or “testicle tree.” Apparently, the fruit usually hangs in pairs. There appears to be little besides anecdotal evidence to support its claim as an aphrodisiac, though it is rich in many nutrients, including vitamins B6, C, and E. The California Avocado Commission conducted a Valentine’s Day survey in 2000 of experts, 63 percent of whom concluded that the avocado does have some aphrodisiac qualities, some of which could be attributed to recently discovered phytochemicals.
  4. Truffles. Not the chocolate kind (although those count under the “chocolate” category) but the expensive underground mushroom kind that pigs and dogs root out of the ground. Unlike other foods, it is the musky scent of the truffle that is believed to be what gets us going. Scientists have recently discovered that black truffles contain the pheromone androstenol. There is some debate over how much human beings are affected by pheromones, but truffles have been considered to be aphrodisiacs for centuries, and this recent discovery could be one explanation.

I am kind of behind in my reporting of the last couple of workouts in ChaLEAN EXTREME burn phase.  So here finally if you have been patiently waiting is Burn Circuit 3.  This one is my favorite, because it of couse worked my favorite body parts – Shoulders and legs. 

I love working shoulders.  Probably because I came from a family of rounded shoulders and I always wanted the straight more defined shoulders.  So for me lifting heavy in the shoulder area has been key to straightening my shoulders.  Now my shoulders are not where I want them to be but they are getting there and I really think Chalean Extreme is going to take them to the next level.

On top of that we had some great leg workout in there.  All moves are combo moves as in Burn Circuit 1 and 2.  Leg movements mostly involved lunges, sumo squats – there is alot of inner thigh work going on here.  As well as those ever important calves.  Now just to be honest – in my days of time in the gym my calves were almost famous – ok that was a bit of an exageration but I did get lots of compliments on my legs and calves.  After I got a bit lazy – the legs were heading south.  Honestly I was really surprised at how quickly muscle can disappear if you dont use it.  I have a strong feeling that Chalean Extreme is going to firm them up, but quick.

I already feel like everything is getting firm.  I want to make mention of something here.  Motivation…it is easy to start out being really motivated and just as easy to lose that motivation.  I want you to really consider becoming a team beachbody club member.  It is really inexpensive and with the daily prizes and the monthly transformation contest – it really keeps you motivated to login to the online super gym and push play.  As a Team Beachbody Coach it has taken my motivation one step further.  Since becoming a coach I have not missed a day of workout.  I really feel that I have to talk the talk and walk the walk and in the end the winner will be me with the body that I want.
